As a National Association of REALTORS® certified Military Relocation Professional (MRP), I help active-duty military personnel undergoing a Permanent Change of Station (PCS), as well as veterans and their families find suitable housing that allows them to get the most out of their benefits. I thoroughly understand the PCS timetables and the stress a transfer can create, and my mission is to make the process easier, faster, and less stressful. Ideally, we will start working together well before the actual move to begin tackling not only housing but issues that might include locating childcare options, quality schools for older children, or employment opportunities for a spouse. As someone who has lived in Northern Virginia for more than 30 years, I want to be the resource you turn to for any assistance you may need to quickly settle into your life here. While a length of assignment of two years or less almost always makes renting preferable to buying, when the circumstances of the transfer make such a conversation useful, we can work through the math or renting versus buying. I have helped people who wanted to live in the area after separation from the military buy homes, rented and managed those homes when they were transferred to other bases, and welcomed them home when they returned. If you are a veteran, you undoubtedly understand the power of the VA loan program. With a VA-backed loan, you can borrow up to 100% of the value of the home as long as the home appraises, and the value is equal to or less than the maximum allowed value for the area. Unlike FHA loans, where buyers who make less than a 20% down payment must pay private mortgage insurance, VA-backed borrowers pay no private mortgage insurance. The lenders I work with are seasoned VA home loan specialists who will ensure that you receive the maximum benefit allowed.
