Oakton is a community in Fairfax County that had a population of nearly 37,000 living in 14,000 households in 2020, according to the Census Bureau. Two-thirds of the population lived in owner-occupied housing with a median value of $763,000. Homes valued at $1 million or more are in abundance. Twenty-seven percent of residents were under the age of 18 and 15% were 65 years old or older in 2020. Median household income was slightly more than $158,000. In January 2024, a total of 15 homes sold, a number identical to the five-year January average. The median sales price for the homes was $922,000, a 12.9% increase over December 2023 and a 24.6% increase over January 2023.
